Beware of Waltons bearing gift sets

Walmart has Knife set from Kershaw and sadly they Walmart'ed the quality of these knives.

Preparedmind101 Has the info.

Here is his vid on the "Normal" versions of these knives.

Sad. I really like the look of that black Freefall...

strike thru

'Disperse ye rebels' recreators!

The bus stopped along a road when a large herd of bison passed nearby, and seniors filed out to take photos. Almost immediately, an armed ranger came by and ordered them to get back in, saying they couldn’t “recreate.” The tour guide, who had paid a $300 fee the day before to bring the group into the park, argued that the seniors weren’t “recreating,” just taking photos.

“She responded and said, ‘Sir, you are recreating,’ and her tone became very aggressive,” Vaillancourt said.

Note the attack is Red on Blue... (damn you Sarah.)

Black Sunday

Reeko

Try and understand. It really is that bad.

Daystate

What did you get to shoot today?

The Daystate CR-X Air Rifle

The gun I shot was in .22 and shooting moving targets (gallery style) at 35 yards was almost boring.

IIRC the scope was a 10x50x 60 Sightron with side focus.

I got to say it was a good day.

Edit: here is an ad for the Caldwell Shooting Gallery.

YouTube: Big Bag O Blades

I'm going to try to breath some life back into this blog, mostly with blade posts.
I will try to but up more Photos of my knives (and swords, and kukris, and tomahawks), but I also want to post other people videos that have good info or simply show something that I want (and might never have).

First up is  a vid from preparedmind101. Quick yes/no opinions on several blades.
He is pretty hard on some Cold Steel products, and you may know I am a huge CS fanboy, but I have no problem with his criticism.

I love the mods he does especially the CS hawks.

Am I the only one

Am I the only one who remembers when the Democrats held control of the House and the Senate?

They could have passed all the gun control they wanted... All they had to do was give up Obama's reelection (Hey, if it saves only one life.)

Sad, sad pandas.

It's good to have another song

It's called...

Just a Girl (with my AR-15)

FIRST DRAFT

See a pink rifle I might buy
Lies exposed
No big Media Surprise
They don't think I know
Exactly how to stand
And shoot a gun
Exactly like a man

'Cause I'm just a girl, with my AR-15
I don't want no shotgun for this fight
I'm just a girl, no rape whistle for me
So don't let me have any rights

Joe… I've had it up to here

The moment you hear someone outside
Shoot at the door
Is very bad advice
Can't defend the life that I hold so dear
Without my carry gun
That you fear

'Cause I'm just a girl, with my AR-15
Won't walk with a group
Late at night
I'm just a girl, Guess my Kung Fu is weak

'Cause 300 pound Linebackers
I can't fight

I'm just a girl,
On myself I won't pee
Just your typical stupid advice

Joe… I've had it up to here

Shall… not be infringed… Clear?

I'm just girl
I'm not a victim of the world
That's all that you'll let me be!
I'm just a girl, forced to be gun free
Your laws are dumb
Makes me worry some

I'm just a girl, want my weaponry
I won't succumb to attacks on person…
I'm just a girl, with technology
I won't become meat for Attila's huns
I'm just a girl, I'm not a sheep
Best defense I'll use more than shotguns

Joe… I've had it up to!
Joe… I won't obey you!
Joe… I've had it up to here...

Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms should be a store

No they screwed that up too.

A store calling itself Fearless Distributing opened early last year on an out-of-the-way street in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood, offering designer clothes, athletic shoes, jewelry and drug paraphernalia.
Those working behind the counter, however, weren't interested in selling anything.
They were undercover agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives running a storefront sting aimed at busting criminal operations in the city by purchasing drugs and guns from felons.
But the effort to date has not snared any major dealers or taken down a gang. Instead, it resulted in a string of mistakes and failures, including an ATF military-style machine gun landing on the streets of Milwaukee and the agency having $35,000 in merchandise stolen from its store, a Journal Sentinel investigation has found.
When the 10-month operation was shut down after the burglary, agents and Milwaukee police officers who participated in the sting cleared out the store but left behind a sensitive document that listed names, vehicles and phone numbers of undercover agents.

I question the timing

You know the US banned* Assault Rifles 10 years before they were invented?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StG_44

* Taxed and registered, but most people don't understand the difference.

This Is My Rifle

My rifle and my cousin

There are many like it but this rifle is mine.

It is a Ruger 10/22 my dad gave me when I was 16 years old.

Would a "universal background check" make it illegal to give a gun to a child or other family member?

Dishwasher Safety

The Black Sunday Society

Presents

A Short Video On

Dishwasher Safety

...

Please note the implication that you should take responsibility for your physical safety at all times by having the means to defend yourself and others up to and including carrying a concealed firearm are wholly coincidental.

Buckle Up for Safety

It is impossible to prove a negative.

You will often hear a news story about someone's life being saved, either through an act of heroism, or blind luck, or by something as common as a seat belt.

Everyone knows seat belts save lives. It is a Universal Truth.

And if you don't know it there are TV ads to teach you.

But how many lives are saved by seat belts? Again you can't really prove that someone is alive when they could have been killed...

But the best number I could find online comes from the CDC:

Seat Belts Have Saved an Estimated 255,000 Lives Since 1975

255k lives saved in 33 years? Am I the only one who thinks that number is shockingly low?

How low?

Well Dr. Gary Kleck, at Florida State University’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, did a study on guns and their use in self-defense in 1993. And from that study he extrapolated that guns are used for self-defense 2.5 million times each year.

But wait... We still can't prove that someone is alive when they could have been killed. And we don't need to.

All we need are 10% of one year's worth of defensive gun use to be a life saving event, to equal the lives saved by seat belts each year... Oh, I'm sorry that is not correct. All we need are 10% of one year's worth of defensive gun use to be a life saving event to equal the lives saved by seat belts in 33 years.

That seems like a very low bar to reach.

You will often hear the poorly informed mantra that we need to treat guns like cars.

Instead of treating guns like cars, we need to treat guns like seat belts.

Not a Sheep

Not like she will post it on her own blog...

From the Squirrel Report

Edit: New Jovian Thunderbolt has Words.

1976

I have lived in Kentucky almost my whole life. My folks moved here before my first birthday.

Before that they lived in Dodge City, Kansas the place I was born.

I recently found this photo which was taken in Dodge City in 1976.

The other thing I have from Dodge City that came from 1976... The Ruger Mark I my father bought there.

What is funny is that I had the gun for several years before I noticed the writing on the top.
